Communications/Promotion Task Force
A quick review of Wednesday's Alternative Worship Communication/Promotion
Task Force follows:
* We want to name the service. A suggestion has been made to use
"Connections." Many of us like the name but feel the logo is not reflective
of an Alternative Worship Service as it was developed for Lent. We need to
decide if we want to consider other names and if we do, how to solicit input
for the names. When the name is finalized a logo will be needed for imaging
and promotion uses.
* We would like to add info to the Disciples Christian Church web-site soon
identifying that an Alternative Worship experience will be available in
September. This will allow "church shoppers" to see us if they are
searching the inter-net. Toni and Greg, can you help us with this one
please.
* Our goal is to have 50 people in attendance at the first service. To
achieve this we want to get many people in our church involved and use many
avenues of promotion and advertising.
* The local colleges need to be contacted to see how we might be able to
communicate our worship offering to their students. We identified young
people that can help us with this: Katie Keresman, Hilary Eherlich,
Johnathon Mosely, Marti Wingate, Greg Mathews. Amy is going to look into
John Carroll. Holly will communicate with CWRU. We need to enlist two
people to work with Ursuline and Notre Dame. Possibly Cathy Dohanyos can
help with ND since she used to work there.
* Looking at the print media, Donna is going to touch-base with the Sun
Press regarding the Religion Section. Ron has established a relationship
with the Cleveland Hts paper and will work with them on promotion.
* We need to work to get on the Cleveland Heights city calendar that is on
the web.
* Let's consider door hangers (we have some left), post cards, and posters
as well.
* We should also make table tents or flyers for the Neighbor Dinner for our
guests.
This is our just a start at some thoughts. We hope that Thon will help with
the production of print promotion once a name and logo are ready.

If we can settle on some text, I can add a link in the left bar on the home page that says something like "new alternative worship coming in September" that would take people to that text. Once we know what we want to say, it will only take a few minutes to add it to the site!

Comment by Holly Coughlin on April 6, 2009 at 6:00pm - What do you all think about the alternative worship service's name? I like the name "Connections", but would like to look at new logo that is more reflective or worship all-year long. Do we need an adjective before the word "connections?"
